MY STORY

Small Moves Ceramics is the creative expression for my love of clay, curiosity, and self-discovery. During the day, you will find me sitting in front of a computer solving number puzzles in the world of finance, though creating is what fills my cup of joy. I wear many hats but the most important role I hold is being a mom to two young wild boys and guiding them through life.

Hi, I am Elsa Woerner, a Bolivian-American ceramic artist based in the Bay Area with an ADHD brain. I was once a self-proclaimed serial crafter finding too much joy (and yet not enough) in all things crafty. If you have ever given ceramics a try, you will know that the possibilities are endless and that is where my ADHD brain thrives. Although my focus is creating adorable mini lamps and self-care altars, I will occasionally create out of that box as well.

Iā€™m often asked where the name Small Moves comes from. Coincidentally, it has many meanings to me. The first being Contact, a movie based on a novel by Carl Sagan. If you have never watched it, I highly recommend it. It is a humbling reminder of how insignificant but precious we all are, how we all need all the answers, but the only way to grow is by taking small steps, or rather Small Moves. The second is that I fire all of my work in an 8 x 9 inch kiln, also called a doll kiln because of its cute size. Lastly, I like all things mini. They are cuter, more adorable and honestly I might just be making my inner child happy by creating mini everything.

Thank you for supporting my small business and love affair with clay. I hope my pieces bring a little light into your home and a smile on your cute face.
